The East Coast area is now connected by the Thomson-East Coast Line with Tanjong Katong MRT (TE25), Marine Parade MRT (TE26) and Marine Terrace MRT (TE27) providing direct access. Dakota MRT (CC8) and Mountbatten MRT (CC7) on the Circle Line also connects the western end of the East Coast line.

East Coast is a residential stretch running along Singapore's south-eastern shoreline, encompassing neighbourhoods from Mountbatten through to Marine Parade, Siglap and the edge of Bedok. The area is defined by its mix of condos, landed properties, older HDB, a vibrant cafe and dining scene along East Coast Road and the ever-popular East Coast Park.

The Ministry of Law’s Registry of Moneylenders is the only way to confirm a lender is properly licensed. The East Coast is a long stretch from Mountbatten all the way to Siglap so lender offices may be located across the corridor or in nearby Bedok and Paya Lebar. The Thomson-East Coast Line now runs through the area and the Circle Line covers the western end so reaching a lender office is much easier than it used to be.

Small business owners along the East Coast strip whether running a cafe, salon or retail shop can typically use bank statements or IRAS filings in place of traditional payslips.
Walk into a lender’s office with complete documents and you could walk out with cash or a PayNow transfer within one to two hours. Approval itself often takes under 30 minutes so the rest is paperwork and contract signing. Incomplete documents are the number one reason things drag out.

If you earn under $20,000 annually, the borrowing ceiling is $1,500 across all licensed moneylenders. Higher earners can borrow up to six times their monthly salary.
It’s pegged to your income. Below $20,000 a year means a maximum of $1,500 spread across every licensed moneylender you borrow from. At $20,000 or above, the ceiling rises to six month’s salary. Outstanding balances with other lenders chip away at that limit, so factor in what you already owe before applying.
